What’s New on the MayanRental YouTube Channel? Lots of Vidanta Videos, with More on the Way!

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been putting quite a bit more effort into our MayanRental YouTube channel lately.

Actually, the channel has been around for quite a few years. We have accumulated a collection of videos showing Vidanta accommodations, pools, beaches, restaurants and things to do at the resorts.

Some of those videos have been watched thousands of times, which tells me people find them useful.

There is just one problem. Some of them are getting pretty old!

If you have visited Vidanta recently, you know how quickly things change. New buildings, restaurants, attractions and even entire resort areas seem to appear every year. A video from 2015 might still give you a good idea of what a particular suite looks like, but it certainly isn’t going to show you everything available today.

So I’ve decided to devote more time to the YouTube channel, update some of the older material and create new videos that answer the questions people actually have when planning a Vidanta vacation.

First, a Little About Me

For those who don’t know me, I’m John Jameson. I’m a retired pharmacy professor, a longtime Vidanta owner and one of the peoplewho started MayanRental more than 20 years ago.

My wife Linda and I have spent a lot of time at Vidanta resorts over the years. We’ve stayed in everything from Grand Mayan to GrandLinda John Jameson Luxxe, Loft and Residence and have watched the resorts grow and change.

I recently put together a personal page called Meet John Jameson that tells a little more about my background, how MayanRental got started and why I enjoy sharing information about these resorts.

The YouTube channel is really an extension of that.

MayanRental helps people rent vacation accommodations from Vidanta owners. But I’ve always felt that providing good information is just as important as helping someone make a reservation.

I want people to understand what they’re getting, what their choices are and what to expect when they arrive.

And sometimes a three-minute video can explain something better than three pages of text.

Two New Videos You Might Find Helpful

I’ve recently added two videos that address questions I hear quite often.

Comparing Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta and Vidanta Riviera Maya

Watch the Nuevo Vallarta vs. Riviera Maya comparison video

This is probably one of the most common questions I get.

Which resort should we choose?

We’ve spent considerable time at both resorts and enjoy them for different reasons. But they really are very different vacation experiences.

I put together this video to help you understand those differences and decide which location might be a better fit for your vacation.

There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong answer. It depends on what you enjoy doing, who you’re traveling with and what you want out of your vacation.

Choosing a Vidanta Luxury Level

Watch Choosing a Vidanta Luxury Level

This is another subject that can be pretty confusing, especially for first-time visitors.

Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, Grand Bliss, Grand Luxxe, Spa Tower, Loft, Residence, Estates. There are a LOT of choices.

And the names don’t always make it obvious what you’re actually getting for your money.

This video is intended to help sort through those choices and give you a better idea of which accommodations might make sense for your family and your budget.

I think it’s worth understanding the differences before spending extra money on an upgrade. Sometimes the upgrade is absolutely worthwhile. Sometimes it probably isn’t.

What About All Those Older Videos?

I’m not planning to throw them away.

Some are still very useful, including our popular 25 Things to Do at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta and our Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta Resort Overview.

We also have tours of Grand Mayan, Grand Bliss and Grand Luxxe accommodations, along with videos showing resort amenities and activities.

Just pay attention to the age of the video. Some of the accommodations haven’t changed much, while other parts of the resorts have changed dramatically.

I’ll be replacing or updating older videos as I have the opportunity.

We’re Heading to Riviera Maya in November!

This is where things should get interesting.

Linda and I will be spending time at Vidanta Riviera Maya in November, and I’m planning to take LOTS of pictures and videos.

I want to get updated footage of the accommodations, resort grounds, pools, beach, restaurants and transportation system.

I’m also planning videos for first-time visitors. Things like navigating the Cancun airport, arranging transportation to the resort and figuring out how to get around once you’re there.

One video that will be coming shortly is Is Grand Luxxe at Vidanta Riviera Maya Worth the Upgrade?

I’ve stayed in both Grand Mayan and Grand Luxxe accommodations over the years, and this is one of those questions where the answer really depends on what matters to you. Space, balconies, bathrooms, location and some of the additional privileges can all make a difference.

I’ll be taking a closer look at that question in the upcoming video.

If that sounds useful, subscribe to the MayanRental YouTube channel so you don’t miss it when it goes live.

I’ve already started making a list of things I want to photograph and film in November. It’s getting pretty long!

Here’s Where You Come In

I’d really like your help deciding what to cover next.

Are you planning a trip to Riviera Maya? Is there something you’d like to see before you arrive?

Maybe you want a closer look at a particular room, restaurant or pool. Or perhaps you’ve stayed there before and remember something you wished you had known beforehand.

Send me your questions!

You can contact me through MayanRental or leave a comment on one of our YouTube videos.

I can’t promise I’ll be able to answer every question or get into every building, but I’ll do my best.

My goal is to make the channel a practical, honest resource for people interested in Vidanta vacations. Not a collection of sales pitches, just useful information from someone who has spent a lot of time at these resorts.

So please take a look at youtube.com/mayanrental, subscribe if you’d like to follow along, and let me know what you’d like to see next.

I’m looking forward to sharing a lot more with you!
