Having been a Vidanta owner for over 20 years and having stayed in almost every unit type and location. It took me several trips before I finally figured out how everything fit together, so I thought it might be helpful to explain the main building locations.
One thing to know up front: several years ago, the ability to successfully request a specific building was largely eliminated because it created a never-ending hassle for the front desk staff.
One more legitimate option is to offer to delay check-in while waiting for a better location. Patient, very polite persistence has always been my motto for just about everything in Mexico. Who knows…it might even work. Unfortunately, it was much more successful 10 years ago than it is today.

It’s not the easiest map to interpret, so I’ll reference the map numbers for each building.
Grand Mayan
There are three sections:
- Copán – Buildings 1 & 2 (Map #10)
- Tikal – Buildings 3 & 4 (Map #9)
- Muyil – Buildings 5 & 6 (Map #8)
If you get the ocean/water park side, they’re all good.
If you end up on the back side, my personal preference is Muyil first, Copán second, and Tikal last. Others may disagree, but after many stays that’s how I’d rank them.
Higher floors generally have better views.
One interesting note: the entire 9th floor has been converted into newer Grand DeLuxxe units. That’s probably a topic for another post.
The Grand Mayan sits at the far north end of the resort.
Grand Bliss
The Grand Bliss is a single tower just south (or to the right if you’re standing on the beach) of the Grand Mayan (Map #7).
I like its location because it’s a little quieter while still being close to everything. It’s just far enough from the Grand Mayan Water Park to avoid much of the activity.
Grand Luxxe
The Grand Luxxe buildings occupy the opposite (southern) end of the resort, beginning near the beach and extending inland along the Ameca River.
One nice surprise: the map numbers actually match the building numbers!
- Building 1 stands alone and contains the main lobby and lobby bar, with one of the best tequila selections on the property. It’s connected by walkway to the Punta pools and Burgers Custom Made.
- Building 2 also stands alone and has the Grand Luxxe fitness center on the ground floor (enter from the end of the building).
- Buildings 3 and 4 are connected.
All four buildings contain Grand Luxxe Suites and Villas.
Buildings 3 and 4 also contain the Spa Tower units, and the third floor has the incredible Loft units. Another topic for another post.
Residence Building
The Residence building is free-standing on the far side of the Luxxe 4 pools and Kids Club.
It contains the outstanding four-bedroom Residence units.
It’s a long way from the beach, but guests receive priority shuttle service, so getting around isn’t much of an issue.
Buildings 5 & 6
Buildings 5 and 6 are connected and contain a mix of Loft Studios, Loft One-Bedroom units, and Grand Luxxe Suites.
Quinto is located on top of Building 5.
These buildings are a bit less convenient because they’re farther from the beach and many of the restaurants. Of course, the shuttle is always available, so walking is optional. If you do choose to walk, this resort is a great way to get in your steps!
Conclusion
We have made a simplified Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta map that might be even more clear. I hope this helps make the layout of Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta a little easier to understand.
